Personal Security Tips From a Private Investigator

The best way to keep you and your family safe is to make some small changes to improve your personal security. As an expert in personal protection, a private investigator has some useful tips to help individuals keep themselves and their loved ones safe while at home and away.

Secure your home: There are some very simple and inexpensive things you can do to make your home safer. Installing a security system and cameras allows you to protect your property while you are at home or away. Just having cameras installed to the exterior of your home can be a deterrent from a would-be thief or trespasser. Always keep your doors locked, windows closed, and garage door down even while you are at home. Do not hide a key outside. Instead, ask a neighbor or friend to hold on to a spare.

Secure your identity: Never leave financial information out where it can be picked up or viewed by others. Be sure to shred all important documents that you want to dispose of. Never give out your social security number or bank account information to someone over the phone or to any unauthorized individual. All computer passwords should be well guarded.

Be aware of your surroundings: When out in public, be aware of what is going on around you. Avoid talking on your cell phone while out because it is very distracting and you may not realize that you are being watched or followed. Take a self-defense class so that if someone was to assault you, you could defend yourself. Carry a cell phone in case you need assistance.

Take threats seriously: If someone is threatening you or your loved ones, file a complaint with your local law enforcement. Hire a private investigator to assess the danger and provide surveillance to determine if the person is stalking or following you.

Find out who you are dealing with: A private investigator can run background checks on employees, nannies, neighbors, and anyone else who may have interaction with you or your loved ones on a regular basis. Understanding a person

"People underestimate their capacity for change. There is never a right time to do a difficult thing. A leader's job is to help people have vision of their potential." – John Porter
